Stand Alone Titles

Here are the books I have written that are not a part of any series. Descriptions and where you can order are listed with each. I have also included collections of stories by my creative writing students.

Don’t Leave Me Hangin’ is a collection of short stories that leave the ending of the story for the reader to decide. It contains 39 short stories (enough for one a week during the school year) in a variety of genres to appeal to every interest. While it is designed for English teachers and home school parents to use for “Free Write Fridays,” Don’t Leave Me Hangin’ is fun for readers of all ages to discuss what they think happens next and for writers to get their creative juices flowing. Have fun reading, but remember, don’t leave me hangin.’

Works by Students

Each year, I work with a new class of Creative Writing Students. We learn different writing styles, and they try their hand at each. Around March, they choose which of all the stories, poems, or articles they have written they want to include in the collection. They decide the name, create the cover, write the description, choose the format, and set the price. It is a huge undertaking for a diverse group of inner city kids, and I’m so proud of them. Each author gets a share of the sales.

Creative Writing Class Year 1:

This book is a collage of many different stories created by teens, and we created this book to show our writing abilities to the writing world. These stories that we created are in the form of Murder Mystery, Horror, Fun, Fantasy and so much more. This book is an expression of what we teens think would make interesting stories.

The front cover of this book is from a photograph taken by Italiana Foley, one of my Creative Writing students. The back cover has a class photo.
Both the front and back cover of this book were designed by Shyanne Hicks, one of my Creative Writing students. The front portrays a center eye to portray vision. The other portraits are the different genres represented in the collection. On the back is our class pictures, set like a gallery.

Creative Writing Year 2:

Art is not always colorful pieces of work, but stories full of imagination. They may not be vivid strokes of a brush, but the writing of words that paint their own story. Read as our short stories come to life through the work of literature.
