Adventures with Anne

Describe your most memorable vacation.

My most memorable vacation was when I won my first Lilly Grant. It was initially an $8,000 grant for teachers. I never expected to win, but as a result, I got to spend 3 weeks traveling on my own in Colonial Williamsburg and a month with my mom and nieces in Prince Edward Island, Canada. We all love Anne of Green Gables, and we got to be in PEI on the 100th anniversary of The Story Girl (by Lucy Maud Montgomery). That book was the basis of the Road to Avonlea series.

For one month, my mom, my nieces, and I got to travel all over the island, see musicals, visit Avonlea Village, go to readings, find sites, and interview people who knew Lucy Maud Montgomery personally. (Those stories are on my https://legacyhunting.wordpress.com site.).

We did a lot of staged photography in all of the Anne sites. I later returned with one niece who had previously been and another two nieces. So many memories in one little island.
